Has anyone out there ever had any haters? I'm quite sure we all have had our share. But poor old naive me...Well I didn't think I had that many until I started pursuing my music career full-time. And out of nowhere...they came. I mean I've never really experienced such hate of this magnitude! It's shocking...but it's also an eye opener. I know that I'm headed in the right direction. It seems like the closer I get to my goal the harder haters come.
So what is a hater??? That's a good question. My definition of a hater is "A person that simply cannot be happy for another person's success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person."
I expect some people that I know to hate on me, but people that I don't know...I think that's pretty pathetic! Who hates on someone they know nothing about?...It's ignorant and shallow!
So I've had the unfortunate experience of being hated on by people whom I don't know and they don't know me either except by word of mouth. Rumors, Rumors, Rumors! But that is another topic, we can discuss that later. Anyway, these people have continuously stalked my social web pages and prank called my phone for months. And the most ridiculous part of it all is that I don't even know why they are mad. I didn't understand and for months I rattled my brain trying to figure what I did to them and what I could possibly do to fix it. (That was my first problem right there!) I came up with nothing. So I did nothing. I waited...and waited...and waited...thinking it would just go away after a while. The more I ignored it...the harder they came. At first it made me really really sad, but over the course of this last 9 months it has actually made me stronger. I know now that no matter what you do or how well you do it, or how badly you do it for that matter....people who have already set in their minds that they don't like you...WILL NOT LIKE YOU! And that's okay. You still continue to be who you are.
I will let you in on a little secret. I think haters really want to be your friend. They hate because they want to belong, they admire you, they want to talk to you and hang with you. If not, why else would they bother?? So try to be kind to all of your haters. Even if they try to provoke you to be mean to them. All they really want is someone to acknowledge their presence. Just like the opposite of love is NOT hate...the opposite of like is NOT dislike...for both the opposite is INDIFFERENCE! Abraham Lincoln once said, "Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them? THINK ABOUT IT! :-)
That hate has actually helped me. I took my frustration, anguish, and pain and poured myself into my music. Day and night I was in the studio...writing and recording. I channeled all that negativity and turned it into something positive. They say "If they ain't hating...you ain't doing nothing." So I must be doing something!! The moral of this story is...Let haters hate...and while they are hating...you keep pushing, keep doing what you do and before you know it...you'll be so high up they cant even see you. And they will be right where you left them in the same spot...probably hating on somebody else. Until next time ya'll...PEACE!
