People dont dance no mo'...all they do is this!

If you didn't know...last week was my birthday weekend and I had a blast! We started in Baltimore on Friday (11/13) at Eden's Lounge. Partied! Then Saturday, I went out to get my favorite red meat...LAMB CHOPS! Hmmmmm....Yum yum. I was treated to dinner at Smith & Wollensky's, a notable DC steakhouse. Afterward, was The Scene. I had been waiting months to see Southern Hip Hop Legends GOODIE MOB!

The show was awesome! And we were so close to the stage that we could practically smell the sweat dripping off of these dudes (gross I know, but stay with me here...) Cee-lo and the crew delivered.

There's just one thing though...one lil' itsy-bitsy thing that threw me off. There was a moment in the show when they all were performing a song. Cee-lo commenced to start rapping his verse. When the song got to the hook...no one was singing with him, so he told the DJ to stop the track, asked us if we knew the song ("ya'll don't know this?") and went to the back of the stage to pout. ("Ima just stand right here then...since ya'll don't know the song...") In my head I'm like... Cee-lo, must you be so DIVA???...its DC man...not ATLANTA!

I understand the hype behind Goodie Mob, my sister understands the hype behind Goodie Mob, and every other true hip hop head does also...I think. But that doesn't mean that those same hip hop heads were at THIS particular concert. He treated the crowd as if they were undeserving of his performance just because they didn't know THAT song.

I think that they all expected for everybody in the crowd to know all of the lyrics to all of the songs like fans from the South. (I suppose?? :-/) My sister and I did, but we are from Georgia, that is to be expected! I don't know if DC heads really mess with Goodie Mob like that...the main music genre here is Go-Go. But that doesn't mean that they don't appreciate pioneers of hip hop just because they don't know all the lyrics word for word. (In my Oprah Winfrey "Sophia" from Color Purple Voice) I luvs Cee-lo...Gawd knows I do...but I think that his little temper tantrum was a bit extra...and quite frankly it hurt MY lil' feelings because I was one of the ones who actually KNEW ALL the lyrics....SHEESH! LEAVE THE DIVA AT HOME NEXT TIME CEE-LO!! I still love you to death though and I will still buy tickets to all of your concerts and "Crazy" is still one of my all time favorite songs in the world...(amongst a thousand others...but that's besides the point)

Other than that...the show was AMAZING!!! :-)

So I posted pics and a couple of videos..ENJOY!!!

HATERS...Bored with their own lives so they HATE on yours!

Hi there,
Has anyone out there ever had any haters? I'm quite sure we all have had our share. But poor old naive me...Well I didn't think I had that many until I started pursuing my music career full-time. And out of nowhere...they came. I mean I've never really experienced such hate of this magnitude! It's shocking...but it's also an eye opener. I know that I'm headed in the right direction. It seems like the closer I get to my goal the harder haters come.

So what is a hater??? That's a good question. My definition of a hater is "A person that simply cannot be happy for another person's success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person."

I expect some people that I know to hate on me, but people that I don't know...I think that's pretty pathetic! Who hates on someone they know nothing about?...It's ignorant and shallow!

So I've had the unfortunate experience of being hated on by people whom I don't know and they don't know me either except by word of mouth. Rumors, Rumors, Rumors! But that is another topic, we can discuss that later. Anyway, these people have continuously stalked my social web pages and prank called my phone for months. And the most ridiculous part of it all is that I don't even know why they are mad. I didn't understand and for months I rattled my brain trying to figure what I did to them and what I could possibly do to fix it. (That was my first problem right there!) I came up with nothing. So I did nothing. I waited...and waited...and waited...thinking it would just go away after a while. The more I ignored it...the harder they came. At first it made me really really sad, but over the course of this last 9 months it has actually made me stronger. I know now that no matter what you do or how well you do it, or how badly you do it for that matter....people who have already set in their minds that they don't like you...WILL NOT LIKE YOU! And that's okay. You still continue to be who you are.

I will let you in on a little secret. I think haters really want to be your friend. They hate because they want to belong, they admire you, they want to talk to you and hang with you. If not, why else would they bother?? So try to be kind to all of your haters. Even if they try to provoke you to be mean to them. All they really want is someone to acknowledge their presence. Just like the opposite of love is NOT hate...the opposite of like is NOT dislike...for both the opposite is INDIFFERENCE! Abraham Lincoln once said, "Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them? THINK ABOUT IT! :-)

That hate has actually helped me. I took my frustration, anguish, and pain and poured myself into my music. Day and night I was in the studio...writing and recording. I channeled all that negativity and turned it into something positive. They say "If they ain't hating...you ain't doing nothing." So I must be doing something!! The moral of this story is...Let haters hate...and while they are hating...you keep pushing, keep doing what you do and before you know it...you'll be so high up they cant even see you. And they will be right where you left them in the same spot...probably hating on somebody else. Until next time ya'll...PEACE!

DISCLAIMER: YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Hey guys,
I am Jhai....they call me Jhai...and you can call me JHAI! Greetings...and welcome to my blog. People have been telling me I need to get a blog since February! So here I am finally. I must admit, I'm kind of nervous because I don't quite know what to say. But I'm going to try.
During this experience I plan to entertain as I always do and express the truth. My truth and no one else's...MY OWN TRUTHS.
At one point in time or another you may get offended by some of my post and opinions. Let me rephrase that, at one point in time or another, you WILL get offended by some of my post and opinions. I will go ahead and apologize in advance if you get in your feelings about what I say. But please know that I am far too vain to use MY very OWN blog to insult and attack anyone. This party is ALL ABOUT ME. So if you get offended...don't get mad...I don't care if you do...just log off and don't look at my post. Everything I say is all in L-O-V-E as MJ (the greatest entertainer in the world) would say it! This is your disclaimer...YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Now with that being said...Let's get started.
I will give you a little background information on me: My BIO

Born in the small town of Dublin, Georgia, Jhai Norris, the third of six children, turned to music for attention. At the age of 11, she and a friend were featured on the Local TV Station. The performance was so good that producers asked for an encore.
Jhai kept performing. She did auditions and talent shows and pageants. She landed a roll as a graduating senior in the movie “Drumline” (2006) starring Nick Cannon.
In 2005, she moved to Washington DC and landed a spot in The Atlantic Records presents “The series” artist showcase. She performed an original and won. The win led to an introduction of local producers and engineers who worked with artist like Lil' Mo, Genuwine, and who also mixed records for hip hop artists like Freeway from Rock-a-fella Records and numerous other artists in the business. While working with them she laid background vocals for “Hollywood," member of R&B group “Prophet Jones,” local DC Rap Group “Checkmate”, and several other local artists in the area.
Standing nearly 5’9” at a slim 125lbs, she was also invited to model for an Atlanta based Hair Magazine Metro Style, published in 2006. She was also asked to model for Baltimore based photographers Moe’s Art and Design.
Jhai was featured in the film "Made for Each Other" starring Dan and Chris Masterson. And she was also featured as a dancer in "Step up 2 the Streets" out February 14, 2008.
On December 15, 2007, Jhai performed a beautiful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner in front of 20,000 Washington Wizards fans. And on July 5, 2008, she performed the National Anthem again for DC’s 1st Annual Stars and Stripes Baseball Tournament Championship Game.
